Dr. Marina Martínez de Pinillos

Principal Investigator

Dr. Martínez de Pinillos holds a degree in Humanities in the field of Historical Heritage and obtained the International PhD in Dental Anthropology from the University of Burgos, the University of Oviedo and the University of Alcalá. She obtained a Juan de la Cierva-Incorporacion in 2020 and currently holds a postdoctoral contract at the National Center for Research on Human Evolution (CENIEH), within the ERC-Tied2Teeth project led by Leslea J. Hlusko. She has developed her research career at CENIEH under the supervision of Professor José María Bermúdez de Castro and Dr. María Martinón-Torres and is a member of the Atapuerca Research Team since 2004. In 2014, she promoted together with Chitina Moreno-Torres, the Ratón Pérez Project for collecting deciduous teeth. Today, she coordinates the collection campaigns at national and international level and manages the Ratón Pérez Collection.

Chitina Moreno-Torres

Head of the Communication and External Relations Department at the CENIEH

Chitina Moreno-Torres has a degree in Law, and in Translation and Interpreting (University of Granada), as well as a Master's Degree in Journalism (University of the Basque Country) and an Expert Degree in Social Communication of Science and Technology (University of Oviedo). She is the head of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+I) of the National Center for Research on Human Evolution (CENIEH) since 2009, being in charge of the communication and dissemination of all the activities carried out by scientists and technicians of the Center. Together with Marina Martínez de Pinillos, she was the creator of this initiative, coordinating and managing the Tooth Collection Campaigns and the social networks of Ratón Pérez from its beginnings.

Carla García

Technician for the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+I) at the CENIEH

Carla García Iglesias has a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Burgos and a Master's degree in Scientific Dissemination from the University Isabel I of Castile. Since 2021 she has been a technician at the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+I) of the National Centre for Research on Human Evolution (CENIEH). Specialised in the creation of multimedia content, her work is fundamental in the promotion and visibility of the Mouse Tooth Fairy Collection project through photography, video, design and 3D animation.

Beatriz Delgado Esteban

Technician for the Ratón Pérez Collection at the CENIEH

Beatriz Delgado Esteban has a degree in Journalism from the University of Valladolid and a degree in History and Heritage from the University of Burgos with a specialization in Physical Anthropology through the Master in Human Evolution. She works at the National Center for Research on Human Evolution (CENIEH) as a technician in the Ratón Pérez collection where she carries out the classification of the decidual teeth. It is also responsible for the visibility of the collection through social networks and will support the organization of the 2023 national and international tooth collection campaigns.
